on 09 and September 10, 2023 it’s that time again: The 44th Babenhausen Old Town Festival opens its doors and invites young and old to an unforgettable weekend in the picturesque old town of Babenhausen. More than 50 clubs and groups take part in this major event and ensure a varied program that leaves nothing to be desired.

The Old Town Festival begins on September 9th at 11 a.m. and will be officially opened at 12 p.m. in the courtyard of the Protestant community center on the market square. Mayor Dominik Stadler and the board of directors of the Babenhausen associations will hold the opening speech. District Administrator Schellhaas will also deliver opening greetings. Representatives from Lichtentanne and a large delegation from Bouxwiller are also expected.

Behind the Stadtmühle near the fire brigade, tractor enthusiasts present themselves with a large exhibition of over 100 historic vehicles. Threshing demonstrations with a historic threshing machine and sawing wood as it was practiced many years ago will captivate visitors. The tractor drivers show their skills on a large seesaw.

The day of the open monument also takes place on September 10th, so that the historic and renovated town church is open.

On both days, the visitors of the old town festival have a lot to offer. Many culinary specialties await visitors. A colorful music program will entertain visitors throughout the old town festival area. From rock music to wind, dance, country and South American music, everything is represented. On Saturday evening, visitors will be entertained by live music at many of the club stands.

A colorful program for the children with a children’s carousel, face painting and various children’s games is also being prepared. After the great success of the past few years, various street artists will once again be entertaining visitors to the old town festival for two days this year. A special children’s program with various artists is in preparation.

The Babenhausen Health Days begin on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Old Town Festival.

Tradespeople will take part in this year’s Old Town Festival from 1 p.m. with Sunday shopping.

Also on Sunday, September 10th, from around 11 a.m., there will be a full entertainment program with live music and morning pints at many stands. Towards the evening, the old town festival will end on Sunday, hopefully with nice early autumn weather.
